AUGUSTA, Ga. – Well, during Round 2 of the Masters I shot a few strokes higher. I backed up 74 with a 76 and failed to make a birdie. It was my highest round all year. That may have had a little something to do with playing Augusta National.

Not to be confused with Episode 5. 'Part 5' is the fifth episode of the 2017 series of Twin Peaks and the thirty-fifth episode of the franchise as a whole. Showgirls is a 1995 erotic drama film directed by Paul Verhoeven and written by Joe Eszterhas.Starring Elizabeth Berkley, Kyle MacLachlan and Gina Gershon, it centers on a 'street-smart' drifter who ventures to Las Vegas and climbs the seedy hierarchy from stripper to showgirl.

I got off to a better start and felt a little more relaxed and just swung away at the first. I just didn’t have my best stuff today. On the second hole, for instance, I hit my second shot into the eighth fairway. That wasn’t by design. It wasn’t awful, but I got out of position too many times to score. You can’t do that at a place like Augusta National.

Three bogeys on the front nine – Nos. 3, 5 and 7 – dashed my hopes of being low amateur. I had a 3-putt at No. 3, from 45 feet putting up the hill. I hit the first putt a little too firm. That can happen quite easily here. My approach at the seventh landed in the front greenside bunker, and that was dead. It was the hardest bunker shot out there today, with a front-right pin location.

I gave it my best shot and learned so much about my game and what I need to work on to play at the next level. (I’ll be stepping up my gym work ASAP.) The walk up 18 alongside 1987 champion Larry Mize was special. He said to me, “You’re a great player. You have a great short game. Just keep it up.” Those words, combined with the way I played, made me feel like I belong out here.

My first Masters ended ahead of schedule. No amateurs made the cut this year, which fell at 2-over 146. Still, the support I felt from the patrons and from back home will stay with me forever. When I turned on my phone on Thursday after my round, I had 73 messages. I didn’t even know I had 73 contacts in my phone.

What a week it was. I’m going home with a lot of good stories. It all began when I was the first player to sign in, on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. The defending champion always gets assigned No. 1, and I was No. 2.

I plan to come back on Saturday and soak it in from outside the ropes. I grew up rooting for Fred Couples, but since he missed the cut, I may go watch Morgan Hoffmann play. He let me into his practice-round group with Jordan Spieth and gave me some helpful tips about life on the Tour.

I won’t get to stick around to see who slips into the green jacket. The West Coast Conference tournament begins Monday, and my (Pacific) teammates need me. I’ll do my best to defend my individual title. As for moving forward, I plan to stay amateur this summer and do my best to represent Team USA in the Palmer Cup and Walker Cup. If all goes well, I will turn pro after the Walker Cup. To have played the Masters as the Publinx champion was a thrill, and I can’t wait to get another shot to come back someday.
